Roses raise money for charity
We teamed up with Borde Hill Garden to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its rose garden and support our charity of the year, St Peter & St James Hospice, at the same time by commissioning and selling some very special ceramic yellow roses.
Over the summer the public have enjoyed seeing the roses on display in the magnificent gardens in West Sussex and were then invited to buy the sculptures at £16 each.
Designed by local metal sculptor, Paul Badham, they proved very popular and helped raise much needed funds for the hospice.
At the end of July, a cheque for £1,280 was presented by our Communications Manager, Jo Harrison, along with Andrewjohn Stephenson Clarke from Borde Hill Garden, to Carolyn Robinson from St Peter & St James Hospice.
Jo Harrison said: “Working with a local artist enabled us to find a unique way to celebrate the Sculpture Trail, and selling the roses afterwards helped to raise vital funds. We hope that the money raised will go a long way in helping the hospice to make a difference to the people it supports.”
Carolyn Robinson, Donor Relationship Manager at St Peter & St James Hospice, said: “It was such a lovely idea to sell the roses to support the hospice and the flowers sold out very quickly. We would like to pass on our thanks to Mr & Mrs Stephenson Clarke and 1ST CENTRAL, as their commitment to the charity has been wonderful and helped provide much-needed funds for the hospice. I would also like to thank all customers for their support.”
