Find out what we got up to this October at 1st CENTRAL

It’s been a busy and exciting October with plenty of successes to share…

We had a couple of victories on the awards circuit this month, ending our always a bridesmaid, never a bride run. We were crowned the Motor Insurance Provider of Year at the MoneyAge Awards and also won the Bronze award for loyalty at the COGS Awards for our loyalty programme, 1ST REWARDS.

Celebrating nine years
After hitting 3 million policy sales in September, this month we celebrated our 9th Anniversary. We truly value our people and believe in celebrating every success, so in true 1ST CENTRAL style we hosted two amazing travel inspired parties at our two sites in Manchester and Haywards Heath. With celeb DJ’s Lauren Pope, Nick Grimshaw and Vernon Kay behind the decks keeping everyone on the dance floor.

Customer Service Week
At 1ST CENTRAL our customers are at the heart of every decision we make, that’s why last week we celebrated Customer Service Week; a week dedicated to improving and celebrating customer service in our company.

It was a week filled with fun activities for everyone to get involved with, including sending some of our execs onto the frontline to do some call listening and also some well deserved recognition to our people who continuously go above and beyond for our customers, and each other.

We’ve had a phenomenal year to date and we’re excited to see where the future takes us and how we can continue to deliver a quality service to our customers.

1ST CENTRAL to the rescue
We had a spiky new addition join our team down at Gemini House in Haywards Heath in the form of a baby hedgehog.

Now named Hoogle, was found in the Gemini car park and was rescued by a couple of 1ST CENTRAL Employees who called East Sussex WRAS to come and pick up little Hoogle where they took him back to their sanctuary where he will become big and strong over winter and ready for release in the spring.

It turned out that Hoogle was only a couple of months old and wouldn’t have made it through winter if it hadnt been for their quick thinking.

If you're interested in how Hoogle's doing, East Sussex WRAS has a Facebook page with lots of lovely updates on Hoogle and his new friends.

Halloween at 1STCENTRAL
Every year Halloween always brings lots of fun and games to the 1ST CENTRAL offices, and this year was no different.

Our Manchester office held their very own Halloween Fun Fair and party, with ghoulish games and prizes. Not only that, but whilst the rest of the nation were excited to see who would win the Great British Bake Off, our teams held their own Halloween Bake Off, after the winner was crowned all cakes were then sold to help raise £130 for the Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Over in Guernsey the team held a pumpkin carving competition whilst enjoying chilli, hotdogs and pumpkin soup out on the terrace.

No Halloween would be complete without a big department challenge, and this year it came in the form of a Mummy wrapping challenge. Each team were provided with three toilet rolls and had to wrap their nominated teammate completely in the quickest time. We had a real array of times submitted, but the winning team pulled it out the bag and finished their mummification process in just 1minute 42 seconds!

Ronald McDonald House 5-a-side Football Tournament
We firmly believe our employees should have a great worklife balance, that’s why we encourage everyone to take part in social activities, such as sports teams. This month saw two teams to compete in the Ronald McDonald House 5-a-side football tournament in Burgess Hill.

Both teams played exceptionally well with ‘Puyol Pants Down,’ captained by Harry Gee-Woolley suffering defeat in the final and were ‘Mirror Signal Malouda’, captained by Craig Hickey losing out in the semi-finals.

The tournament is an annual event that raises money for the Ronald McDonald House Brighton. This year participating teams managed to raise £1,000 which will be used to further enhance the facilities provided to families who stay at the ‘house’ during a difficult time.

Netball finish the autumn league on a high
After a difficult season with some challenging new teams coming into the league and a series of unfortunate injuries, the Flyers managed to finish in third place.

The Flyers final game was against one of their most rivalled competitors, Spiritz. After suffering an unfortunate defeat to them earlier in the season the Flyers put on a dominant show, taking victory with a great score of 27-7! Every single player put in 110% and as always, it paid off!

There ‘ain't no rest for the wicked’ as Monday the 6th November sees The Flyers back on the court to start their Winter-campaign where they'll be looking to turn their luck around and claw their way back to the top and bring back another trophy.
