Our Stories - Marketing

Tim Paterson

Senior Digital & Innovation Manager

Tim works in the 1ST CENTRAL Marketing team in Haywards Heath as the Senior Digital & Innovation Manager.

Current role

As the Senior Digital & Innovation Manager, I manage a team of digital professionals and together we’re responsible for our group of websites – optimising the functionality, ensuring the customer experience is as smooth as possible and driving innovation capability.

How long have you been working at 1ST CENTRAL?

I’ve been with the company since November 2012.

Tell us about your career path.

I’ve been lucky enough to have been working in E-Commerce since I graduated in 2003. I’ve had the pleasure of working for a variety of companies, from one of the UK’s largest independent publishers to the world’s leading multinational insurance groups. During my time with 1ST CENTRAL, they have helped me to develop and I have progressed to become a senior manager with more responsibility. I’m really enjoying the challenge and the opportunity to help make the organisation more innovative is really exciting.

What do you love about your current role?

I like having the opportunity to make a difference, both commercially and from a customer perspective. Our online capability has grown immensely since I first started here and that has a lot to do with our team of enthusiastic people and entrepreneurial spirit.

What’s the best thing about 1ST CENTRAL as a company?

We’re an agile company and are really ideas driven. The key decision makers are visible within the business and are always open to suggestions from employees, which is encouraging.

What did you want to be as a kid?

A policeman. My granddad was an inspector in the police force and I always looked up to him (literally) so thought that one day I would follow in his footsteps.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to spend my time watching and playing sport, particularly golf. I try and get out and play as much as the weather in this country allows.

Who would play you in the movie about your life?

I was thinking Brad Pitt, but my team have suggested Sheldon Cooper would be a better fit, although I'm not sure how I feel about that.
